Prices

The costs of a translation vary depending on language combination, type of translation, degree of difficulty and volume of a text, the desired deadline and whether your translation needs to be certified or not.

Feel free to ask for a quote for the text to be translated. E-mail us your text as a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TXT, JPG or PDF attachment using our contact form. You will receive an individual quote, usually within a few hours (or the following day at the latest).

Do you need a certified translation for an official document? Please scan your document with a resolution of 300 DPI and send it to us via our contact form. We will send you a quote per e-mail and, if you accept the quote, we can work with the scans, so there is no need to send us the original documents.

Price structure

The first price-determining factor for translations is the combination of languages you require. A translation from Dutch into English is less expensive than one from Dutch into Chinese, for instance. A translation from Italian into Chinese will be even a little more costly, because it is likely that an interim translation will be required. Translations from Dutch into English, German and French, and vice versa, are the least expensive.

Another factor that determines price is the type of translation you need. Transcreations of marketing texts take more time than ordinary translations, so these usually work out as more expensive, while processing a machine translation is often faster than doing a normal translation. If your text needs to be certified, we have to spend extra time on layout of the document.

The degree of difficulty of the text also plays a part in determining the price. A medical, technical, or legal translation is more expensive than a press release because it requires more time. We estimate in advance how much time per hour we think we will need per translation.

The size of the text is the fourth factor that influences the price. We give a discount for translations longer than 15,000 words, and further discounts as the size of the project increases. For very short jobs (less than 300 words), we charge a minimum rate of 1 hour.

In the normal course of business, we assume a delivery time of approximately 1000 words per customer per language per day. In this way we can serve several clients at the same time, and there are no waiting lists. We can almost always schedule your translation for immediately or for the next day.

Woordenboeken

If, however, you wish to have your translation sooner than within our normal delivery time, you pay a surcharge. The amount of this surcharge depends on the number of overtime hours the translator and reviewer must work in order to complete the job in time.

Low overhead costs

We keep overheads low. All Noorderlicht Translation Agency translators work remotely in their own homes. This means that the cost of expensive offices are not factored into our rates, and instead you pay real prices for excellent translations. Ask us for a quote without obligation and compare our prices with those of other translation agencies.
